Health and safety

At Aleatica, workplace safety is a cornerstone of our Safety First pillar.

To ensure the protection of all employees, we have implemented the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMS), which applies to the entire organisation and each Business Unit, based on the international standard ISO 45001.

Our SMS doesn’t operate in isolation; rather, it integrates with the requirements of other relevant standards:

Of our operations were ISO 45001-certified, and our goal is to achieve 100% certification for our Brownfield operations by 2026.

In 2025, we developed a new Safety strategy focused on critical risks with the potential to cause serious or fatal accidents. This strategy will be fully implemented in 2026.

Occupational safety governance

The structure is led by the Chief Executive Officer. The Centre of Operational Excellence (COE) management oversees and coordinates key actions. The Safety Director takes on specific leadership, with direct support from the regional Safety Departments (Europe, Mexico, and South America) and the Safety managers in each Business Unit. We operate four distinct committees to ensure the flow of information and decision-making.

Job Hazard Assessment (JHA)
Safety training focused on identifying hazards associated with each daily task.
ASR (Aleatica Safety Report) platform to identify unsafe actions and conditions in the work environment.
Identification of incidents that do not result in injuries but have a high potential for harm.
Authorised cards that allow work to be stopped when unsafe conditions are detected.
Training in the ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards. In 2025, the project expanded to Europe (the United Kingdom and Italy); in 2026, it is planned to expand to South America.
Quick reports, PPE checks, procedures, order and cleanliness, collective protections, and machinery.

Technology-driven improvements

The use of technology in the infrastructure sector enhances employee safety and boosts operational efficiency, reduces long-term costs, and helps prevent occupational accidents. The most significant innovations implemented include

Jaws
A system mounted on surveillance vehicles that removes objects without the operator having to get out. 97% effective.
Sweeping machines to avoid exposure to road traffic.
Developed by Aleatica, it emits audible and visual signals to alert staff.
Remote operation, it enhances the safety and mobility of authorities during emergencies.
Narrowing technique with fewer cones and a pulsing effect.
They project a line of light around machines, marking the safe zone.
Road repairs carried out from the vehicle, with no exposure to staff.
Cushion Trucks (TL2/TL3)
They can withstand uncontrolled impacts at speeds of up to 110-120 km/h.
Installation without staff having to get out of the vehicle. Comes with a Cushion Truck.
Internal and external cameras detect unsafe driving behaviours. It reduced unsafe driving practices by 97%. In Mexico, no work-related accidents were caused by unsafe behaviours.
A35 Brebemi developed AI-powered mini-rovers that pre-signal lane closures, preventing exposure to live traffic.
On the A35 Brebemi (2025), they cover entire sections to assess pavements using infrared signals and detect broken-down vehicles in thick fog.
Minimum guidelines contractors must meet; contractual clauses; and a Safety Control Group for certification.
Centralises the recording of accidents/incidents. Medical service modules, advanced analytics, and emergency plans.

All Business Units have enhanced their Safety strategy maturity, enabling more focused training plans.

In 2025, we continued to work with the People & Culture department to implement and enhance the High-Performance Culture in Safety for operational middle managers, expanding the program to South America (Chile, Peru, and Colombia).

Safety indicators for our own staff

By the end of 2025, the Lost Time Injury (LTI) indicator for employees had decreased by 9.68% compared to 2024.

Safety indicators for contractors

In 2025, the contractor LTI indicator decreased by 57.69% compared to 2024.

The decrease in hours worked is due to the completion of construction phases in ARM (Colombia), PI (Chile), and AUNOR (Peru); however, the main safety indicators dropped very sharply.
